A Question of Morality?

In Bosque County, 40 miles west of Waco, a crop is being grown in Texas where it has never grown before. Can you guess which crop and why? Find out here.

It is always fun to see how every Liberal blames the Bush administration for everything from ethanol to ingrown toenails.

Yet a check of the fine print and one finds that "The ethanol fiasco is sponsored by farm state legislators" as well as large agri-businesses.

What we have not yet seen is what effect corn will have on soil fertility. Corn is a heavy feeding crop requiring large amounts of nitrogen. It will be interesting if another shoe drops after a several years of intensive corn production.

The talk of poor folks in America going to bed hungry sounds worthy of John Edwards. No evidence has been provided to substantiate this claim. If this gentleman worked for the Salvation Army, one might be inclined to believe him. My own observation is that many of the shoppers are growing in girth in stores like Bulk Barn and Walmart.

Well now this is a serious mistake...

What are they going to do for water and corn is relatively speaking a real water hog of a crop and Bosque country is anything but wet?

anon's comment about nitrogen is also on the mark...

"Besides the 51 cents per gallon subsidy afforded to ethanol production, Congress also has enacted restraints on trade so that inexpensive ethanol from Brazil cannot enter the U.S. market. Brazilians make ethanol in huge quantities from spent sugar cane and other agricultural waste"...

Ahhh damn! Socialist, libtard social engineering at its finest financed by the productive in this country through extorted tax dollars while the parasitic attempt to claim credit for saving mother earth...

Er, as an actual librul - I'm seriously considering libtard as my new affiliation, however - I should note that this is not a liberal issue. Massive tax subsidies for international food conglomerates do not jive with liberal ideology; we like to give your tax money to welfare queens and pointless mass transit systems.

Aside from the pork aspects of the ethanol industry, no environmentalist with a shred of credibility supports the current food to fuel system. Corn ethanol in particular is an environmental holocaust on almost every level, from destruction of water sources via consumption and runoff, massive over application of synthetic fertilizers and biocides, and the reallocation of CRP land, to name a few.

I believe this is worth noting, as it pays to know who your enemies and friends are. In this fight, you have friends on the left. And no, Democratic candidates are not 'the left'. They're just a different incarnation of the pork wagon playing to people's fears, greed and insecurities.
