Reverse Outsourcing: From India TO MI, OH and GA
Bangalore--India's IT giant Wipro plans to open more centers in the U.S. in a continuing trend of “reverse outsourcing,” as Indian information technology outsourcing companies recruit in the U.S. and Europe.
Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, India’s third-largest information technology outsourcing company, said it aimed to hire more than 1,000 people in the U,S, to staff two new software development centres in Michigan and Atlanta.
Tata Consultancy Services, India’s leading outsourcing company, on Tuesday opened its first US centre near Cincinnati, Ohio, which has capacity for 1,000 employees.
Bottom Line: Trade and outsourcing work both ways.

While Bill Gates makes a case for more H1B Visas Wipro looks to the U.S. to satisfy worker needs.
Opening the US centres is also an alternative to getting visas for workers, Mr Premji said. Obtaining a short-term visa for skilled foreign workers in the US is highly competitive.
Explain why they needed firms like Grigsby & Cohen to pave the way by finding every dirty trick in the book. The purpose they have is to exclude everyone who is not an H1B by constant redefinition until they do not have a US Citizen left.
You do not penalize citizens, and then force them (by practicality) to accept blood money. That is what is happening here in Ohio, Michigan , and Georgia.
Ohio would do well to give Wipro treatment that Spitzer would think was overkill. Wipro has blood on its hands and it's not going to come off with a few jobs here and there.
if you knew anything about how the visas work, you would know that this is just a way for wipro to get around the H1B visa shortage.
by opening a sofware development center in the US, wipro can use L1 visas, which are unlimited, to import workers from india.
That's exactly the scam - bring in more L1 visas to undercut the prevailing US labor, maybe hire a few token Americans to serve as customer interfaces for getting the business.
What's not said is that firms like WIPRO realize that India doesn't have enough skilled people and the cost of those with adequate skills is rapidly growing, thus they're setting up operations in countries lower in cost than Indiaa, like China, Indonesia and Vietnam.
